The Block quitters Elle and Joel hit back at Nine amid claims the show wasn’t ‘on brand’ for them

Elle Ferguson and Joel Patfull’s close associates have hit back at Channel Nine after the couple sensationally quit The Block earlier this year.

The couple made national headlines over claims they quit the show after just 48 hours for ‘p**s poor’ reasons.

Elle, an influencer and tanning entrepreneur, and Joel, a retired AFL player, downed tools in April – just two days into filming – after his mother Trish fractured her neck during a fall at her home.

According to The Daily Telegraph, sources close to the couple say the pair ‘believe they have been used to stir up interest in Sunday night’s premiere’ and claim Nine have ‘stretched the truth’ surrounding their exit.

According to the publication, their ‘camp’ insisted there was more to the story.

‘(Nine) need this season to work as there’s a lot at stake,’ one sourced claimed.

‘Elle and Joel were the most high-profile talent on the show and they don’t have them any more, so they still need to find a way to incorporate them in their promos.’

They added: ‘It’s clear what Nine’s tactic is and, to be honest, it’s working for them.’

Sources hit back at a number of claims about the pair, including that the show wasn’t ‘on brand’ for them.

Their ‘camp’ said the pair were avid fans of The Block and ‘knew what they were in for’ while Elle has an interior design degree.

Sources also said Joel’s mother’s injury was more extensive than first thought and that she had bleeding on the brain.

Sources alleged the pair had a meeting with Block executive producer Julian Cress before leaving the show.

Another claim refuted by the couple’s camp was they fact they found the toilet paper ‘too scratchy,’ saying all contestants thought the same.

The show’s host Scotty Cam, 59, didn’t mince words and straight-up called their departure ‘un-Australian’.

He recently accused the pair of fleeing The Block in the middle of the night and giving no explanation for their departure.

He rubbished their excuse, telling News.com.au that while Joel’s mother did injure herself before filming began, this wasn’t the excuse the couple gave for throwing in the towel.

In fact, he claims, they didn’t give any excuse at all.

‘They didn’t give us a reason why they were leaving. They never mentioned anything to us about visiting their sick mother,’ the long-time host said on Tuesday.

‘We flew them to Adelaide before The Block started for a week, and put them up in a hotel so they could see [Joel’s mother], and they came back and said everything’s fine,’ he added.

‘They never spoke to us [about quitting]; they just left in the middle of the night.’

Scott went on to claim the couple ‘never mentioned’ Joel’s ailing mother ‘in the 48 hours before they left, or after they left’.

Speaking to TV Week on Monday, Scott also insisted The Block would have been prepared to temporarily shut down production to accommodate the couple’s visit to see Joel’s mother, if they had been made aware of the situation.

Scott previously said at the Logie Awards that Elle and Joel giving up so soon into the competition was ‘unAustralian’ and ‘p**s poor’.

He told TV Tonight: ‘We had a 48-hour challenge to choose the house that you get and they scarpered after 48 hours. It’s something that’s never happened before.’

‘Forty-five thousand people applied to be on The Block and win life-changing money. These guys got on and they just couldn’t handle the pace after 48 hours,’ he continued.

‘Which to me is a bit unAustralian! Have a go! It’s p**s poor.’

Scott reportedly told the other contestants Elle and Joel left because the renovation show wasn’t ‘on brand’ for them as Bondi influencers.

He also said they had complained ‘the toilet paper was too scratchy’.

Daily Mail Australia reached out to both Channel Nine and Elle and Joel for comment.

Their exit from The Block will be a major storyline in the first few episodes of the new season, which premieres Sunday, August 7, on Channel Nine and 9Now.

Melissa Gorga and husband Joe Gorga skip Teresa Giudice’s lavish wedding due to her ‘betrayal’

Melissa Gorga and Joe Gorga chose to not accept the invitation to Teresa Giudice’s glamorous wedding to Luis Ruela on Saturday.

The reality star, 43, and her husband, who is also Teresa’s brother, had initially planned to attend the wedding, but decided in a last minute decision not to attend the ceremony.

‘Teresa betrayed them in a way that’s unforgivable,’ an insider revealed to People. ‘They’re not going to celebrate Teresa’s new marriage when all she does is try to tear apart theirs.’

Melissa, Joe, and Teresa recently filmed the season 13 finale of the Real Housewives Of New Jersey shortly before the ceremony, where a rift began between the three stars.

Although the couple haven’t publicly released a statement or reasons why they chose to deny the wedding invitation, sources close to the two informed People of some underlying causes.

While filming the finale, ‘false rumors’ were spread about Melissa and Joe, revealing that Teresa had a part in the situation, along with her now husband, Luis.

The source added that many guests and close family members of the reality star were also absent from the wedding day. ‘It’s telling that Teresa didn’t have one relative at her wedding.’

An additional insider expressed that it was in Melissa and Joe’s best interest for themselves and their family to stay away from the nuptials.

‘Viewers will see, but after the continued attacks, it’s clear the healthiest thing for Joe and Melissa to do is walk away,’ the source stated.

‘They just want to find peace, especially for their three children,’ the source added to People.

Before Teresa walked down the aisle and said, ‘I do,’ in front of 220 guests, her brother, Joe, expressed his frustration with a photo caption, reported Page Six.

He uploaded a picture of his family and friends, and typed out, ‘Blood doesn’t make you family.’ While it hasn’t been confirmed that the words were aimed directly at his sister, the fallout between them raised speculation.

According to the publication, a source expressed that Teresa had been ‘pushing’ a rumor to cause trouble during the season finale. Joe also reportedly did not get along with her husband, Luis.

Despite the rift, the wedding went on and Teresa tied the knot with Luis in front of a number of guests during an outdoor ceremony.

The two were wed at the Park Chateau Estate and Gardens in New Jersey, and was filmed for a special that is set to air on Bravo, reported People.

A source informed the entertainment tabloid that Melissa and Joe have ‘exhausted’ their efforts to have Teresa as part of their family.

‘Sometimes removing the toxic energy from your life is the only way forward,’ the insider added.

Elizabeth Hurley, 57, showcases her incredible figure in a blue bikini

Elizabeth Hurley once again put on an age-defying display as she showed off her incredible figure in a two-piece on Sunday.

The actress, 57, sizzled in the turquoise bikini as she posed up a storm for a mirror snap on Instagram.

She looked nothing short of sensational in the eye catching number which featured gold detailing.

The star was seen leaning on a bathroom work top in front of a light up oval mirror as she stared into the camera.

She opted for a radiant palette of makeup including fluttering lashes, pink blush and a nude lipstick.

Liz styled her dark highlighted tresses down as they cascaded past her shoulders from a centre parting.

The beauty told her fans that she is enjoying the sunny British weather by rocking a bikini.

She captioned the post: ‘Bikini weather in England…. who’d have thought it? #notcomplaining’.

Recently during a luxurious beach getaway Liz shared a hysterical clip to her Instagram as she set sail on a yacht before taking a dip in the cold ocean.

The brunette beauty shielded her eyes behind oversized shades as her luscious locks tumbled to her shoulders wet from a swim.

The Austin Powers star frolicked on the sands as she held out her arms and playfully blew kisses to the camera.

Later Elizabeth headed off for a swim as she slowly lowered herself into the ocean from the back of a private boat.

The cold water seemingly took the actress by surprised as she pulled a series of hysterical faces for the camera.

She captioned the snap: ‘Do you hate people making a fuss getting into cold water?’.

It comes after the Bedazzled actress arrived at the swanky Goodwood Festival with close friend Henry Birtles on Wednesday.

She was last pictured with ‘The Racing Poet’ in boozy New Year’s Eve photos, leading Henry, who was dressed as Superman at the wild party, to insist the flirty pair are ‘just friends.’

On Wednesday the friends looked relaxed in each other’s company as they strolled around the famous race course.

Liz wowed in a colourful floral print dress for her day at the races, with the plunging neckline showing off her incredible figure.

The star accessorised with a pink floral fascinator and statement square sunglasses

Henry, 55, meanwhile was dapper in a navy suit, green shirt and blue tie as he strolled alongside Liz.

The poet was previously pictured wrestling with the fishnet-clad star while dressed as Superman on New Year’s Eve, in Instagram snaps posted by Liz.

Henry, a single poet and horse lover who has met the Queen, said at the time that he was a friend of Liz’s former fiancé Shane Warne, from whom she separated in 2013.

Australian cricketer Shane died suddenly from a ‘massive heart attack’ while on holiday in Thailand in March, aged just 52.

Henry, who is separated from his wife, told The Sun in January of his boozy night with Liz: ‘It was a laugh, OK, it was past midnight.’

‘Everyone had had a bit too much to drink and we had a Superman versus Supergirl wrestle and someone took a picture. It was pretty lighthearted.’

He added of his friendship with Liz’s ex Shane Warne: ‘I was the best man at his wedding and we are just great, great old friends.’

‘And it is nothing more than that. Elizabeth has come horse-racing with me, several times. I am a friend of Shane Warne.

Explaining how he was the Austin Powers star’s friend of thirty years, he concluded: ‘This is nothing. It has all just gone a bit pear-shaped.’

Nicknamed The Racing Poet, Henry’s website reads: ‘His poems are a regular feature on Cheltenham Gold Cup Day where he recites to the crowd.’

He queued alongside Joanna Lumley to meet The Queen at Buckingham Palace in 2013 and featured Liz in his video the following year for his England 2014 football World Cup poem That Time Again.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy praises Jessica Chastain as she visits war-torn country

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has praised actress Jessica Chastain for aiding his country amid the nation’s ongoing conflict with Russia.

The politician, 44, and Head of the Presidential Administration Andriy Yermak, 50, met with the American screen star, 45, in a closed format in the Ukrainian capital of Kyiv on Sunday.

President Zelenskyy thanked Jessica and similar Hollywood stars for visiting Ukraine amid the war in a statement shared on messaging service Telegram after the meeting: ‘American actress Jessica Chastain is in Ukraine today. For us, such visits of famous people are extremely valuable.

‘Thanks to this, the world will hear, know and understand the truth about what is happening in our country even more.’

While in Kyiv, Jessica visited children’s hospital Okhmatdyt to meet the young people who are being treated from the war-torn cities of Kherson and Chernihiv, before travelling to the city of Irpin.

In June, Ukraine thanked its Hollywood A-list visitors Ben Stiller, Sean Penn, Liev Schreiber and Angelina Jolie for visiting the war-torn country during Russia’s savage invasion.

The Ministry of Defence said in a tweet that the country is ‘grateful to Hollywood stars who, despite the danger, have visited us’.

A statement read: ‘You are more than just an inspiration to all of us. Millions around the world have heard the truth from you about the struggle of the Ukrainian people.’

Angelina is a special envoy with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees and visited Ukraine in April where she met with volunteers and refugees.

Sean was in the country when war broke out and has been making a documentary about President of Russia Vladimir Putin’s barbaric invasion.

The actor also held a benefit concert, raising £2million for the war victims.

Spotlight star Liev helped found a network to support and verify grassroots organisations helping Ukraine.

Ben was one of the most recent celebrities to pay a visit in which he met with President Volodymr Zelensky in June.

Since Russia invaded Ukraine on Feb. 24 in what President Vladimir Putin termed a ‘special military operation’, the conflict has settled into a war of attrition fought largely in Ukraine’s east and south.

Fighting over the Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant, captured by Russian forces in the opening stage of the war but still run by Ukrainian technicians, has raised the prospect of a wider disaster.

Shells hit a high-voltage power line at the facility on Friday, forcing its operators to disconnect a reactor to prevent the possibility of radiation leaks.

Another bout of shelling yesterday hit a storage facility at the plant said to contain nuclear waste and injured one worker.

The United States has accused Russia of using the facility as a ‘nuclear shield’ by moving large amounts of troops, ammunition and military equipment to the area, in the knowledge that Ukraine’s armed forces are highly unlikely to launch an attack on its own power plant, particularly with the looming threat of nuclear disaster.

Russia is trying to gain control of the largely Russian-speaking Donbas region in the east, comprised of Luhansk and Donetsk provinces, where pro-Moscow separatists seized territory after the Kremlin annexed Crimea in 2014.

Ukraine’s military said late on Saturday that Russian forces had shelled dozens of front-line towns and were trying to attack in six different areas in the Donetsk region, though had struggled to gain any ground.

Zelensky said that over the past week his forces had ‘achieved powerful results’ in destroying Russia’s logistics supplies and rear bases.

‘Every strike on the enemy’s ammunition depots, on their command posts, and on accumulations of Russian equipment saves the lives of all of us, the lives of Ukrainian military and civilians,’ he said in a late-night video address.

British military intelligence said earlier that Russian forces were almost certainly amassing in the south, anticipating a counter-offensive or in preparation for an assault, and the war was about to enter a new phase, with most fighting shifting to a nearly 220 miles-long front from near Zaporizhzhia to Kherson, parallel to the Dnieper River.

Ukraine’s forces were focusing on hitting bridges, ammunition depots, and rail links with growing frequency in its southern regions, including the strategically important railroad spur that links Kherson to Russian-occupied Crimea, it said.

Ashley Roberts turns up the heat in a bikini while soaking up the sun on a lavish Mykonos getaway

She is never shy showing off her toned and tanned physique.

And Ashley Roberts flaunted her incredible body as she posed up a storm in a bikini for a sultry Instagram post on Sunday.

The former Pussycat Dolls singer, 40, soaked up the sun on the lavish Mykonos getaway as she enjoyed a boat trip.

The beauty sizzled in the blue two string two piece as she held her arms above her hair fixing her blonde tresses as they blew in the wind.

She seemed in high spirits as she knelt down while donning a pair of dark black sunglasses.

Ashley was joined on the luxury trip by celebrity hair stylist Lou Teasdale as the pair lounged with a friend on a large sunbed.

The Heart FM radio host opted for a strapless purple bikini as she looked away from the camera.

Ashley dressed to impress as she changed for the evening into a gorgeous black dress.

She flashed her toned figure in the backless number which cascaded to the floor as she looked out to sea.

The star upped her glamour by carrying her personal belongings in a dazzling silver handbag.

Ashley has previously explained how she works hard in the gym to stay in shape and uses exercise as much for her mental health as she does for her physical wellbeing.

She said in a past interview with Coach magazine: ‘I love exercise; it’s not only for my physical health but it’s for my mental health so it’s very important to me.

‘Some people don’t think of dancers as athletes but that’s garbage. All-day sessions in the studio are hardcore total-body workouts.

‘I did ballet, tap, modern and lyrical – all different styles that tested my fitness and worked my muscles in different ways.’

Ashley relocated from Los Angeles to London nine years ago after the Pussycat Dolls went on hiatus in 2010.

She said in an interview with the Mail on Sunday’s YOU magazine in 2019: ‘If someone had told me 10 years ago that this would be my home and I’d be drinking tea and saying Brit things like loo and rubbish, I’d have been, like, ‘No way!”

Ashley told how she realised the UK was home after her beloved father Pat passed away in March 2018.

She said: ‘The passing of my dad made me see how many amazing friends I have over here, who tried to scoop me up.

‘But I thought, “Why am I trying to fight this LA-London thing when everyone here is so supportive?”‘

Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker travel on commercial flight as they head for mountain retreat

Kourtney Kardashian, 41, and Travis Barker, 46, were spotted flying commercial recently.

The celebrity pair kept a low profile as they boarded an Alaska Airlines flight from Los Angeles to Spokane, Washington last week.

Kourtney’s daughter, Penelope, 10, and cousin North West, nine were reportedly traveling with them.

Witnesses say they group wore masks and hoodies during the flight.

There’s speculation the couple may be spending some time at their home in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho which is about 30 miles away.

The group appeared to keep a lowkey presence, putting on masks and hoodies.

The decision to travel with the masses comes as Kourtney’s younger sisters, Kim, 41, Kylie Jenner, 24, and her partner Travis Scott, 31, have been blasted for the carbon footprint created by their use of private jets.

Kim came in number seven on the list created by the marketing company Yard.

The group calculated she was responsible for 4268.5 tons of carbon emissions over 57 flights.

The TKN rapper was number 10, racking up 3033.3 tons of carbon emissions just this year, with an average flight journey of just seven-point-three miles, the shortest average in the top 10.

The Kylie Cosmetics founder did not make the top ten list, even though her flights are an average of 24 minutes long.

As vegans, Kourtney and Travis already have a lower carbon footprint. According to Shrink That Footprint, the average vegan diet produces half the emissions of the Standard American Diet and a third of the greenhouse gases created by a meat heavy diet, such as Keto.

The Blink 182 drummer has put together his own Kravis Guide to Eating Vegan in LA, which can be found on Kourtney’s Poosh website.

The Kravis bunch appeared to enjoying their rural getaway. On Sunday, Kourtney posted a short video as she went water skiing on a boogie board in a lake with clear blue water and pine covered mountains in the background.

The Kardashians star donned a bright pink long sleeve one piece and a safety vest for her trip around the lake, writing ‘Sunday funday!!’ in her Instagram stories.

Love Island reunion 2022: Becky Hill wows in a quirky lime-green feathered gown

Becky Hill wowed in an elaborate feathered gown as she attended the Love Island 2022 reunion on Sunday.

The singer, 28, slipped into the quirky lime-green number which showcased her toned legs courtesy of its sheer skirt.

The star wore her tresses in a slicked back updo and sported smoky eyeshadow.

She added an additional pop of colour with multicoloured earrings.

Last week Becky looked sensational while performing during the UEFA Women’s Euro 2022 final at Wembley Stadium in London on Sunday.

The singer exhibited her enviable physique in a dazzling silver leotard featuring mirrored scales and white pearls as she belted out her chart-topping hits including My Heart Goes (La Di Da) and Crazy What Love Can Do.

Continuing her look with matching knee-high boots with pink laces, she wore glittery eye-shadow and accessorised with a collection of necklaces.

Wearing her gorgeous blonde tresses in a ponytail while allowing for a selection of strands to frame her face, The Voice UK alum appeared to be in her element.

She was joined by a flurry of backing dancers wearing red-and-blue tracksuits with white stripes emblazoned onto them.

It is the first ever UEFA Women’s EURO Final Show presented by Pepsi MAX, celebrating a historic tournament for the women’s game.

England’s Lionesses roared into action at the historic women’s Euros final and nearly opened the scoring in minutes – watched on by Prince William.

They had been urged onto greatness moments earlier by Tess Dolan, the little girl who went viral at Bramall Lane earlier in the week dancing to Sweet Caroline.

And the crowds were even treated to a flypast from jets above the famous grounds before kick-off.

It was almost the perfect start for the team as Fran Kirby found Ellen White but she headed it straight to the keeper.

Earlier the Lionesses’ two biggest Royal fans had wished them luck and the future king was even there in person to cheer them from the stands.

The Duke of Cambridge posted a video to his official Twitter account this morning in which he and Charlotte shared their support for the Lionesses.

‘We both want to wish the lionesses the best of luck tonight, you’ve done amazingly well in the competition and we’re rooting for you all the way!’ Will exclaimed, before Charlotte chipped in: ‘Good luck, I hope you win. Bye!’

Tens of thousands of fans had been seen around Wembley Stadium hours before the women’s Euros final as the nation prepared for tonight.

Supporters turned out in force to cheer on the Lionesses by flying England flags, painting their faces red and white and donning Team shirts to cheer on the players as they prepared to face Germany at 5pm.

Excitement was seen throughout the sea of England shirts and flags, blowing horns and clappers.

Many of those attending live and in pubs and bars and live screens set up across the country were in family groups, made up of young women and girls.
