The family of Aussie sing G-Flip were nowhere to be seen at the 36th annual ARIA Awards on Thursday night.
And the 28-year-old non-binary singer has revealed that their folks were disinvited from the event on purpose.
‘My first ARIAs was in 2019,’ G-Flip explained. ‘I brought my whole family and they got so drunk they almost got kicked out.’
Instead, G-Flip who uses them/they pro-nouns, went down the red carpet on the music industry’s night of nights with their beautiful Selling Sunset girlfriend Chrishell Stause, 41.
G-Flip admitted she was prepared to give their family ‘a second chance’ at future ARIA Awards ceremonies reports 9Honey.
The Melbourne-born musician, whose real name is Georgia Claire Flip, co-hosted the ARIAs alongside Aussie pop legend Natalie Imbruglia and British star, Ruel.
G-Flip paid a heartfelt tribute to their partner Chrishell from the stage.
‘She is over there,’ they told Chrishell, who watched on from the audience, ‘she is so good-looking and has a heart of gold and smells like dreams.’
The lovebirds have been inseparable since going public with their relationship earlier this year.
Their romance came after Chrishell split with her boss and co-star Jason Oppenheimer in late 2021, when he revealed he didn’t want to have kids.
Meanwhile, frustrated viewers took to social media to savage the ARIA presentation.
The show was slammed for its ‘amateur production’ and labelled ‘absolute crap’.
Many comments were unpublishable, so was the fury of viewers.
I absolutely LOVE music but this production of the ARIAS is so hard to watch. How could they get it so wrong?’ wrote one.
‘Watching the #arias on TV…did they just throw the show together today or was there maybe an afternoon on zoom worth of planning involved,’ wondered another.
‘The ARIAs gave a very strong Rock Eisteddfod vibe. Actually, that’s offensive to public high school students,’ quipped one more.
