Fleur East is late for her own radio show after ‘intense’ Strictly training

Fleur East was twenty minutes late to her own early morning breakfast show at Hits Radio on Tuesday as she continues to struggle with her gruelling ’15-hour work day’.

The Strictly Come Dancing star, 35, was revealed to be ‘missing in action’ by co-hosts James Barr and Matt Haslam as they came on air at 6am.

The singer has been training for the BBC dance competition and slept through her alarm after rehearsing with partner Vito Coppola until gone 10pm the night before.

James and Matt reassured listeners: ‘She’s going to be here soon. She’s doing 15-hour days at the moment so we do need to cut her some slack!’

When Fleur did finally make it on air she admitted: ‘I slept a little too well last night guys – I was dancing until past 10pm which explains the bags under my eyes. Bags for life!’

Adding the pressure, Fleur and Vito found themselves at the top of last weeks leader board after dancing in the iconic Blackpool Tower Ballroom scoring the first 40 of the series.

The pair hope to impress judges Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse, Anton Du Beke and Shirley Ballas with their ‘Fleurito’, a sensual rhumba to the Sugababes Too Lost In You, this week.

However, the presenter said all the practice’s have started to take a toll and her ‘hips are so sore’ from learning the ‘intense’ routine.

She said: ‘The rumba is really intense and a lot of technique so I was rhumba-ing late into the night with Vito and my hips are so sore – I’ve never moved my hips so much in my life!

‘Every week is a reset it’s a brand-new show again, new dance, new technique so you’ve got to start again.’

The X Factor star previously got emotional after dedicating her dance last Saturday night to her later father Malcolm, who died in 2020.

Talking in a piece to camera during the rehearsals before the live show, Fleur explained that Strictly was her dad’s favourite TV show.

‘It was his favourite show. When I was on The X Factor, it used to run the same time as Strictly and my dad used to be very annoyed that he had to miss the Strictly results because he was watching me on TV,’ she laughed.

She continued: ‘If my dad was here and he knew I was performing in Blackpool, he would burst with pride. He was my biggest fan. Everything I’m doing, I’m doing for him and to make him proud.’

And taking to the stage on the night, Fleur’s performance was nothing short of sensational as she stepped out clad in sequins for a performance to Destiny’s Child.

The dance received judge Craig Revel Horwood’s first 10 out of 10 marking of the season, resulting in a perfect 40 out of 40 points, which is also a first.

And Fleur was over the moon with the achievement, with partner Vito scooping her into his arms and over his shoulder following the news.

Helena Bonham Carter transforms into Crossroads’ Nolly for new series

Helena Bonham Carter will star as acting legend Noele Gordon for a new ITVX adaptation of her extraordinary life. The trailer of Nolly was released on Friday and the BAFTA Award winning actor embodied the huge star of 1980s television. In the first scenes shared of the show, a fuming Noele dramatically announces her dismissal from Crossroads to the waiting press.

In the first trailer shared by ITVX of the upcoming three part series, the news of Noele’s sacking is addressed.

Helena storms into a television studio’s office flanked by the nation’s media, as she plans her approach.

She struts through her panicked staff and takes a mighty short cigarette break before stubbing it out on the office desk.

A concerned colleague whispers in her ear: “You’ve resigned, it’s fine, this was always your plan.

“You’ve handed in your resignation because you wanted to. The decision is yours and yours alone.”

Helena’s character then swings open the door to the awaiting journalists and cameramen.

Much to their shock she then boldly announces: “Gentlemen I have been sacked.”

This moment is in reference to the daytime soap opera star being axed from Crossroads after 17 years.

Noele portrayed Meg Mortimer in the ITV hit show from 1964 to 1981 and became a household name across the country.

Doctor Who and It’s A Sin director Russell T Davies has created a drama to tell her story.

Helena will star alongside Sherlock star Mark Gatiss, who will portray the beloved comedian Larry Grayson.

Alongside the showrunner, Helena reflected on her iconic role ahead of the show’s release next year.

During a Q and A, she was asked by Nina Hossain: “It must have been a great character to be able to get out there?”

The Crown star replied: “When I read the script it was like a gift. It was a dream that floated onto the page and I couldn’t believe it.

“I knew Noele Gordon, but I wasn’t a huge fan of, or a great loyal watcher of Crossroads but I was very aware of it.

“I knew her as a figure but I hadn’t taken on board the sacking.”

She also described the decision as taking the role as a “no-brainer.”

Helena continued: “It was just like one of those things that is so wonderful, you know when you read something.

“It’s like when you read a script and it’s like falling in love”, the highly acclaimed actor added.

She then declared the role was ” fate” as she heaped praise on the script of the new series.

Strictly’s Helen Skelton to miss semi-final as new data suggests she will face dance-off

Strictly Come Dancing will air on Friday instead of Saturday this week as the BBC changed the schedule to avoid clashes with the World Cup. Although Helen Skelton has become one of the bookies’ favourites to reach the Grand Final, new data suggests she may find herself in the dreaded dance-off on Saturday.

Digital marketing agency Mediaworks have mapped out the sentiment scores of each remaining celebrity using data from Twitter.

From November 19 to December 1, Molly Rainford has the lowest sentiment score and appears to be losing popularity amongst viewers.

Helen finds herself close behind Molly and the Countryfile presenter could end up in the dance-off.

Molly and Carlo Gu will be hoping to impress with a Charleston while Helen and Gorka will perform a Couple’s Choice.

Fleur East survived the dance-off last week after being saved by the judges who sent Ellie Taylor home instead.

The pop star’s fans seemed to have rallied around her as she now tops the sentiment chart.

Will she be forced to dance for a second time on Friday or sail through to the semi-final?

Meanwhile, Will Mellor and Hamza Yassin are hot on her heels in the sentiment rankings.

Kym Marsh trails behind after being forced to miss last year’s live show following a positive Covid result.

Fleur and Vito Coppola will be dancing a Quickstep to I Got Rhythm from an American In Paris.

Meanwhile, Kym and Graziano Di Prima will be performing a Cha Cha to Fame from Fame and Hamza and Jowita Przystal will Sambaing to They Live In You from The Lion King.

Will and Nancy Xu will be hoping to impress with a Foxtrot to Sun And Moon from Miss Saigon.

Elsewhere, Kym is the odds-on favourite to be eliminated from Strictly this weekend.

Bookmakers Ladbrokes have made the Coronation Street star just 4/11 to exit.

Fleur sits closely behind at 7/2 while Molly is in third position at 4/1.

Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: “Punters seem to think Kym’s time on the Strictly dancefloor will be coming to an end this weekend, with the former Corrie star our clear favourite for the boot.”

At the other end of the scale, Hamza leads the way for this year’s Glitterball Trophy.

He’s the favourite to win this year with odds of 4/11.

Countryfile’s Helen is the second favourite at 11/4 with Will following at 14/1.

Strictly Come Dancing airs on BBC One on Friday at 8pm.

Strictly Come Dancing: Kym Marsh dealt crushing blow hours before show

Kym Marsh and her partner Graziano Di Prima are making their Strictly Come Dancing comeback tonight after the Coronation Street star had to withdraw from last week’s show due to testing positive for coronavirus. However, the 46-year-old has been dealt a crushing blow just hours before her week 11 performance.

Kym is the favourite to be sent packing from the competition, according to Ladbrokes.

The bookies have put the Morning Live star at just 4/11 in the betting to be eliminated from the BBC show this weekend.

Fleur East and her professional partner Vito Coppola are next in the betting at 7/2.

However, it’s more good news for Hamza Yassin, who continues to lead the way by some distance for this year’s Glitterball Trophy at odds of 4/11.

Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: “Punters seem to think Kym’s time on the Strictly dance floor will be coming to an end this weekend, with the former Corrie star our clear favourite for the boot.”

Kym will be dancing the Cha Cha Cha to Fame by the late Irene Cara for Musicals Week.

Kym told It Takes Two viewers on Thursday evening: “It’s one of my favourite songs and it takes me back to being a kid.

“I can’t wait to do the whole 80s thing and get on my lycra, you saw me in training with my headband and legwarmers.”

Her Italian partner Graziano said: “She loves the 80s, she loves the songs.”

It comes two weeks after they performed the Paso Doble in Blackpool and were scored 33 points by the judging panel.

When asked if she was feeling the pressure following time out of the competition, Kym said: “I’ve loved every second, it’s been amazing

“And where we should be feeling pressure we are really not because we are going out there and we are going to have the best time ever. “

Dance expert Doctor Jill Rose Jacobs has claimed Kym’s time away from the ballroom floor may be a large advantage.

“Allowing Kym time to step back and recover was of course the best thing to do and I’m glad to see she has been recovering well,” she said on behalf of Heart Bingo.

She continued: “Kym will benefit from having the chance to sit back and observe the other dancers which is as valuable a tool as physical practice.

“I expect that Kym may make a comeback and even possibly steal the Glitterball Trophy.”

Doctor Jill said allowing Kym to return to the competition was not unfair to the other contestants.

Kym will be dancing against Hamza, Fleur, Helen Skelton, Molly Rainford and Will Mellor.

Last weekend’s highest-scoring couple was Will and Nancy Xu who were awarded 38 points for their Charleston.

Comedian Ellie Taylor and Johannes Radebe were the latest couple to be booted off the show following a dance-off with Fleur and Vito.

When is the Strictly Come Dancing final 2022? Who is favourite to win?

Strictly Come Dancing is coming to the end for another year in the coming weeks, after a glitter-filled two and a half months.

And with Will Mellor, Kym Marsh, Molly Rainford, Fleur East, Helen Skelton and Hamza Yassin all still in with a chance of winning the glitterball.

Due to Qatar World Cup football games during Strictly’s usual Saturday and Sunday night slots, the quarter-finals will take place live on Friday 2 December while the semi-final will air live on Sunday 11 December.

The 20th Strictly final will be hosted by duo Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman later in December, and sitting on the judging panel is Shirley Ballas, Motsi Mabuse, Craig Revel Horwood and Anton Du Beke.

Strictly spin-off show It Takes Two is on screens during the week to ensure viewers get their Strictly fix, hosted by Rylan Clark and former professional dancer Janette Manrara.

So, ahead of this year’s final, MailOnline takes a look at everything there is to know so far about the final show…

The final is looking likely to take place on Saturday December 17, just a week before Christmas.

While the date hasn’t yet been confirmed by BBC bosses, the quarter final will air on Friday 2 December – as it has been moved due to a Qatar World Cup football game.

And the semi-final is set to air on Sunday 11 December, with the schedule having been reshuffled to ensure that both Strictly and the football don’t interfere with one another.

Last year, there was a run time of 125 minutes allocated for the glitzy final – but AJ Odudu pulled out due to injury just before, shortening this as only two couples then remained.

While the remaining celebrities still have a quarter and semi-final to get through, Will Mellor, Molly Rainford, Fleur East, Helen Skelton, Kym Marsh and Hamza Yassin will all have a chance at the Glitterball trophy if they make it that far.

Favourite to win the show is Hamza, who has often found himself soaring up the leaderboard.

According to OLBG, the wildlife presenter’s odds of winning are 1/3, with a landslide of 75% probability.

Following him is Helen, who has odds of 3/1, next is Will with odds of 14/1 while Fleur has odds of 40/1.

Kym and Molly are thought to be in with the least chance of winning as they both have odds of 66/1.

EastEnders actress Rose Ayling-Ellis made history in 2021 when she became the first ever deaf contestant to lift the glitterball trophy along with her professional dance partner Giovanni Pernice.

Musician, comedian and actor Bill Bailey triumphed in 2020 with his dance partner Oti Mabuse, while in 2019 former Emmerdale actor Kelvin Fletcher won, also with Oti.

Back in 2018, television presenter and documentary maker Stacey Dooley was named the winner with her dancer partner Kevin Clifton, with Kevin later leaving as one of the professionals in 2020.

In 2017, actor Joe McFadden won Strictly with Katya Jones, in 2016 television and radio presenter Ore Oduba was named winner with his professional partner Joanne Clifton, and in 2015 The Wanted singer Jay McGuiness won with Aliona Vilani.

Jenna Ortega got a taste of instant superstardom as she touched down in Sao Paulo, Brazil on Friday.

The 20-year-old California native was mobbed by excited fans, who she happily posed with for photos.

It comes after the massive success of the You star’s new Netflix series Wednesday, which dethroned Stranger Things as the most watched series on the streamer.

The petite entertainer looked casually stylish as she traveled to South America.

Jenna layered a plunging black sweater over a white camisole, letting the cardigan fall off one shoulder.

The Netflix star teamed the top half of her outfit with light wash straight-leg jeans, finishing the look with Adidas Samba sneakers.

Her flawless complexion was glowy as she went without a stitch of makeup and displayed her dimples as she smiled.

Ortega, whose star has ascended tremendously since the Addams Family spinoff, toted a Louis Vuitton purse crossbody style.

She draped a pair of black headphones over the pouch and wore white wire earphones in her ears simultaneously.

When she wasn’t interacting with fans for snapshots, she wore a light blue disposable face mask over her visage.

The entertainer flashed a glossy black manicure, reminiscent of her goth character.

The former child actress wore her lustrous and thick auburn locks with face-framing bangs.

Her hair was partially pulled back, with the majority of the textured mane falling over her chest.

The spooky series has racked up 341.2million viewing hours since its November 23 debut, according to the streaming platform.

Olivia Colman defends on-screen son Kit Connor after teen was bullied into coming out as bi-sexual

Olivia Colman is defending her on-screen son from bullies after actor Kit Connor, came out as bisexual.

The harassment began when the 18-year-old starred alongside Olivia, 48, in the Netflix series Heartstopper, as a rugby player whose relationship with another boy at school may lead to more than friendship.

Kit made the announcement on Halloween via Twitter writing, ‘Back for a minute. I’m bi. Congrats for forcing an 18 year old to out himself. I think some of you missed the point of the show. Bye.’

At the Los Angeles premiere of her film Empire of Light Thursday, the Oscar winner went into mama bear mode as she told Variety she was ‘so proud’ of her co-star.

‘I am so proud of him, but I am not proud of how people bullied him. I think people should be allowed to have their own journey.’

‘But I’m incredibly proud of him as a young man to deal with all of that and be in the spotlight. It’s unfair,’ she continued. ‘But he’s amazing. He’s a very beautiful human being.’

Olivia, who shares three children -Finn, 17, Hall, 15 and a daughter, seven, whose name has not been revealed with her husband of 21 years, Ed Sinclair, said she feels the show’s message is important.

‘If any of my children experienced that, I’d want them to know that the world can be beautiful and accepting and loving.’

Heartbreaker creator Alice Oseman also came to Kit’s defense after his announcement.

In a comment to the post she wrote, ‘I truly don’t understand how people can watch ‘Heartstopper’ and then gleefully spend their time speculating about sexualities and judging based on stereotypes. I hope all those people are embarrassed as F**K. Kit you are amazing.’

Kit may be having the last laugh at his bullies. He and co-star Joe Locke are on the cover of GQ’s Men of the Year issue telling the fashion magazine after being thrust into the spotlight he wants to support LGBTQ+ designers so he can ‘ support the community’ as best he can.

Heartstopper season two is currently in production.
