Bridgerton has been seen continuing filming for the highly-anticipated third season this weekend in Greenwich.
Members of the cast of the popular Netflix show were spotted shooting the upcoming series in front of a grand building.
They stood out from the crowd as they were kitted out in full period costumes from head to toe.
Several women, whose roles are not yet known, were seen in full length elegant high-necked dresses.
Their gowns were adorned in flowers and boasted long-sleeves, ruffs and intricate embroidered beading.
Their long tresses were swept up and piled high in regal-looking updos, decorated with flowers and feathers.
Many were wearing gloves and carrying tiny silk bags, while sporting subtle palettes of makeup.
The male castmembers looked dashing, in 1800’s costume’s which included long suit jackets and fancy top hats.
Several of the male actors sported historically appropriate facial hair, including thick sideburns.
In between takes, the actors bundled up in modern coats to keep the cold at bay as they waited for the next scene.
Horses pulling vintage carriages were also spotted on the set, being driven by footmen.
The popular period drama has confirmed that it is back in production after the record-breaking second season was released in March.
Nicola Coughlan, who takes on one of the lead roles reprising her character Penelope Featherington in the series, confirmed that production was underway by sharing a snap to Instagram of the episode one script.
The Derry Girls star has also been dropping hints about costume fittings ahead of the new series and shared a snap with her co-lead on-screen love interest Luke Newton [Colin Bridgerton].
The third season will focus on another of the Bridgerton siblings – Colin – but will break tradition and skip the third Julia Quinn novel and jump to the fourth, Romancing Mister Bridgerton
New showrunner Jess Brownell confirmed in an interview with Variety that season three is skipping ahead to book four and focusing on Colin and Penelope’s love story.
A potential romance has been teased between the pair throughout the last two seasons, as wallflower Penelope pined for Colin from the side of the ballroom while he took centre stage.
However their storyline ended in an awkward position at the end of the last series, after Penelope overheard Colin mocking the idea of marrying her to his friends.
Brownell explained: ‘I really feel like it’s Colin and Penelope’s time. Because we’ve been watching both of these actors on our screens since Season 1, we’ve already invested in them a little bit. We know who they are as people.
‘Instead of treading water on that dynamic, we wanted to push it into their season. It really felt like the perfect moment to tee it up.’
She added: ‘I think Shonda Rhimes has said publicly before that she wants to have eight seasons. We hope to get to tell every sibling’s love story and they will always be in each season.
Previous seasons have taken around a year from filming to release, which could put the Bridgerton season three release date in Summer 2023.
It was reported earlier in the year that cameras would start rolling for the third season in the summer, with pre-production already well underway.
At the end of series two, Eloise Bridgerton (Claudia Jessie) discovers that her best friend Penelope is Lady Whistledown and has secretly been behind the gossip column for years.
In one of the final scenes, Eloise is heartbreakingly seen confronting her friend over her suspicions after she finds hundreds of copies of Whistledown in Penelope’s bedroom.
Speaking about the status of their friendship in the new series, Nicola told Entertainment Tonight: ‘They have to [reconcile]. They have to, because it would break my heart [if they didn’t].
Also, I think, in deep life-long friendships, there are moments like that when you do fight and you’ve just got to learn to grow a little bit. But I think Penelope has got some apologizing to do. I think she has some apologizing to do.’
A new casting announcement was made when it was revealed that the seventh Bridgerton sibling, Francesca, would finally be introduced in the third instalment of the franchise.
Ruby Stokes was originally set to play the eldest Bridgerton daughter, however due to scheduling conflicts she has stepped down and been replaced by Anatomy of a Scandal and Eternals star Hannah Dodd.
So far, no new cast exits have been confirmed after Regé-Jean Page quit the show following his lead role as the Duke Of Hastings, Simon Basset.
When quizzed on whether he was upset that producers may recast his part, Rege brushed off the speculation and said they were ‘free to do as they wanted’.
However it seems series two leads Anthony (Jonathan Bailey) and Kate Bridgerton (Simone Ashley) are set to return in the upcoming season.
Speaking to Deadline, Ashley said: ‘We’re going to be back!’ She continued: ‘Kate and Anthony are just getting started. In season two, there was a lot of push and pull between Kate and Anthony, there were complications with the family, and then they find each other towards the end. I think everything is just starting.’
