Anya Taylor-Joy’s new role in horror-comedy The Menu is enough to put you off your breakfast!

Anya’s new role may put you off your breakfast.

Taylor-Joy proves she has the acting chops (if not the lamb chops) to match up to double Oscar-winner Ralph Fiennes in The Menu, a forthcoming culinary horror film set in a fancy restaurant on an island (and no, cannibalism is not on the menu).

She plays the girlfriend of a young foodie (Nicholas Hoult) who is brought along for the night and is far from impressed by the pretentiousness of the food — or the violence that follows it.

The film was written and directed by the Succession team, and has attracted positive reviews after premiering in Toronto last week.

The horror-comedy currently boasts a strong rating of 91 percent on review-aggregation website Rotten Tomatoes.

Anya and the rest of the cast were required to stay in character throughout the six-week shoot.

The actors playing the kitchen staff — including Fiennes, as sinister Chef Slowik — were trained by Dominique Crenn, the only woman in America to have been awarded three Michelin stars (for her San Francisco restaurant Atelier Crenn).

A new trailer for the film shows a claque of well-heeled patrons arriving at a mega-upscale eatery on a secluded island for an elaborately curated meal.

But the sinister Chef Slowik has other plans for them after they sit down to their bespoke culinary treats.

The Menu is released in cinemas on November 18.

Taylor-Joy has just finished filming the new Mad Max prequel, Furiosa, in Australia.

Production on the latest Mad Max instalment Furiosa was shut down in Sydney earlier this month after legendary director George Miller caught Covid.

Daily Mail Australia revealed the production, which has been under way in a number of locations in and around Sydney since June, was suspended for a week with all on-screen filming halted until at least August 15.

Charles and Camilla affair focus of new The Crown series – first look at season 5 trailer

Hit Netflix show The Crown has kept fans eagerly waiting for the new series which will heavily focus on the marriage breakdown of Princess Diana and the newly appointed King Charles III. In a first look at what’s to come, suspense is heavily building as viewers watch Diana prepare for a televised interview.

With the previous series of The Crown airing back in 2020, fans have been eagerly waiting for season five to air following tensions building between Charles and Diana in the last episode.

After two years, a short trailer for the upcoming series was released with people expecting it to focus heavily on the separation of the Prince and Princess of Wales.

Although the snippet is 37 second long, tensions are high as fans watch Diana and Charles separately prepare for a televised talk.

The clip starts with the Princess of Wales folding her hands with her engagement ring on display as a voice-over reads Buckingham Palace’s statement about the royal split.

It says: “It is with regret that the Prince and Princess of Wales are separating.”

The clip then continues with multiple different news sources speaking about the marriage breakdown with one saying there was “uproar in Britain.”

Whilst these are being said, close-up shots of Diana are being shown as she is getting her makeup down in front of a camera crew.

Within the trailer, there are close-up shots of Charles who is also preparing to speak to the press.

Another news bulletin within the trailer says: “The Princess of Wales upstaged her husband, speaking about her marriage, her life and her future.”

Fans also heard reference to Charles’ infamous affair with Camilla as she was referred to in the trailer by a news reader as a long-time female friend.

After a while, multiple different news anchors are reading our various bulletins until none of them is audible which mirrors the intense press circulating about them both at the time.

As the trailer grows more incense, a final voice can be heard saying: “This has become, all-out war.”

With one final look at Charles’ nervously looking eyes, the trailer then cuts and gives viewers a release date for season five, November 9.

This series will see actress Elizabeth Debicki replace Emma Corrin as Princess Diana as multiple members of the cast have been swapped to represent the shift in time.

Josh O’Connor, who played King Charles III in the preview series will now be taken over by Dominic Cooper.

Replacing her late majesty the Queen will be Imelda Staunton who was played previously by Olivia Coleman.

Fans will also see Kampa starring as Prince William in his teen years before Ed McVey takes over to depict his late to early adult years.

In regards to Prince Harry, he’ll also be played by two different actors with Teddy Hawley doing the honours first before being replaced by Will Powell.

Following the recent death of the Queen, The Crown boss Peter Morgan released a statement paying tribute to the monarch.

Calling the series a love letter to her, he said: “I’ve nothing to add for now, just silence and respect.”

All Creatures Great and Small stars forced to shut down filming in ‘insane’ conditions

All Creatures Great and Small is back with season three and war is on the horizon. James Herriot (played by Nicholas Ralph) and Tristan Farnon (Callum Woodhouse) are exempt due to their critical work at the surgery. The series is loved for its idyllic landscape, but actors Callum and Nicholas said there were some unexpected twists.

The new season of the uplifting family drama takes place after James married the love of his life, Helen Alderson (Rachel Shenton).

Since moving into Skeldale House together, the happy couple have been trying to balance their work and personal lives.

Despite the odd hiccup, there is always plenty to smile about and fans admire the drama for its heartwarming moments.

The show is also popular across the globe for its sense of escapism, thanks to the idyllic landscapes.

Tristan actor Callum said filming for the third season took place from March to the beginning of July.

Speaking about the weather conditions, he said: “There was honestly one day where it started off raining on our drive.

“Then by the time we got changed and out of our trailers, it was blazing sun. Then we got into the car and we had driven to the set.

“By the time we were there, it was an actual snow blizzard. Then the day of filming had to be called off because it was so much snow.

“I have never experienced literally three seasons within the space of like four hours, it was just insane.”

He said the first half of filming had been a lot colder, the by the end, they were filming Christmas scenes.

The star added: “We got to the end of the job where we were filming Christmas scenes in three-piece suits, big jackets, scarves and hats.

“That’s when it started to heat up a little bit.” His co-star Nicholas, however, felt this year’s filming was easier than season two.

The James star said: “This time the weather was kind of more steady than it was last year.

“We had extremes, it was really hot during the cricket stuff but then we had snow for like a week.

“We had snow in April, then we got snow in May again, it was snowing horizontally in May.

“I was like, please give me some warm weather. So this year, I actually quite enjoyed it because it was just a steady 17 degrees the whole time.”

He admitted the cast “lost half a day’s filming to snow [this season], but that was it”.

The star also addressed some hiccups with the props, including contraptions made for the TB testing on cows.

“There were a lot of teething problems with things that were built, but all in all I had a great time,” he said.

“Also we were a lot freer this time because there were less Covid restrictions.

“We were still being tested and things like that but there were a lot less restrictions so yeah, it felt it was right back to the good vibes of season one.

“Season two was brilliant as well but we did have to have dinner by ourselves and all that sort of stuff.”

Viewers will have to wait and see how the elements challenge James and Tristan as the new season progresses.

All Creatures Great and Small airs on Channel 5 on Thursdays at 9pm.

EastEnders’ Janine Butcher exits as Charlie Brooks leaves soap 18 months after return

EastEnders fans have seen Janine Butcher (played by Charlie Brooks) come and go several times over the years leaving behind a trail of destruction at every turn. In her latest outing, Janine embarked on a romance with Mick Carter (Danny Dyer) but the actress has confirmed it won’t be long before fans say goodbye to Janine once again.

Charlie will leave at the end of her current contract, 18 months after she returned to Walford to be close to her daughter Scarlett Butcher (Tabitha Byron).

The actress said: “I was only ever due back to EastEnders for a year, but when [executive producer] Chris Clenshaw presented with his idea for the story, I couldn’t say no to staying a little longer.

“I’ve had an amazing time, as I always go when I go back.”

“But as always with Janine, she probably should not outstay her welcome – for everyones’ sake,” she told The Sun on Sunday.

In last week’s episodes, Janine told a pub full of punters, including Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) that she was pregnant with Mick’s baby.

EastEnders fans will know Janine has spun a web of devious lies to ensure Mick stayed by her side.

Earlier in the year, even though she was behind the wheel, Janine let Linda take the blame for crashing her car.

Her plan to push Linda away from her family almost failed however when Mick grew close to his ex-wife as he helped her regain custody of Annie.

Luckily for Janine she discovered she was pregnant and her romance appears to be back on track.

Mick star Danny will also be leaving the soap later this year in an explosive exit storyline.

Will Janine get her happy ending with Mick or will he lies be exposed before the two Walford residents depart?

Earlier this year it was revealed Ricky Butcher (Sid Owen) will be returning to EastEnders.

The BBC soap confirmed his return would be linked to both Janine and his former flame Sam Mitchell (Kim Medcalf).

When announcing Ricky’s return, EastEnders star Sid teased “drama” for his character.

He said: “I’m delighted to back at EastEnders. I can’t wait to see what Ricky Butcher has been up to these past few years and how he’s going to react to seeing some familiar faces including old flames.”

“I’m excited to see the drama unfold,” he teased.

Chris Clenshaw added: “It is a great pleasure to welcome Sid back to the role of Ricky Butcher.

“Sid helped to create such an iconic character in Ricky who became so synonymous with the show and we couldn’t be more excited to have him back for a while.

“Ricky has so much history in the Square to explore and while a lot of time has passed since we last saw him, it’s fair to say wherever Ricky goes, he always finds himself slap-bang in the middle of mayhem.”

EastEnders airs on BBC One from Monday to Thursday at 7.30pm.
