Jose Mourinho wheeled out his customary mind games before Tottenham Hotspur’s crunch match against Manchester City, questioning whether Raheem Sterling had really been injured over the international break.
The winger was named on the bench by Pep Guardiola despite returning to his club from England duty due to a calf complaint before the comfortable Nations League win over Iceland.
‘We are not as ready as Sterling because he was resting the whole week,’ Mourinho jibed before kick-off. ‘But we are fine, we are ready for the game.’
Guardiola responded: ‘He’s trained one day (for us) in the last week, but he’s not perfect.’
The dig came after the Portuguese said in Friday’s pre-match press conference that Man City’s dishonesty was in stark contrast to his own club, with Mourinho citing Eric Dier’s absence for Spurs after withdrawing from England duty.
‘We all know Sterling is going to play (against Spurs),’ said Mourinho.
‘When Eric Dier left the national team injured last month, he didn’t play two matches for Tottenham. He needed a couple of weeks to recover. And Raheem is going to play.’
Guardiola was exasperated, replying: ‘Mourinho has to speak to the doctor for the national team of England and the doctor for Manchester City. Except maybe Mourinho is a doctor, I don’t know.’
Mourinho also had a pop at Gareth Southgate in the same press conference after the England boss had said that clubs were putting pressure on their stars not to join up with England.
The former Chelsea manager said: ‘Gareth Southgate, I read, told how some club managers put pressure on the players not to play for the national team.
‘And because of that he feels sometimes the need to call club managers to cool down the emotions and control a difficult situation for him.
‘I would like him to say who. Which coaches are putting pressure on the players not to play? I would like him to say which coaches he calls and speaks on the phone with?’
If Spurs win, they will go top of the league, with City unusually finding themselves sitting mid-table.
It's the Game of Thrones coffee cup all over again.
Season two of The Mandalorian in full swing but things didn't go to plan for Mando, Dune and Carga in episode four, titled The Siege, which was released on Friday.
The trio was facing off with some Stormtroopers when an unexpected visitor appeared on the scene in the form of a random guy in jeans.
Eagle-eyed fans noticed the man in the background - wearing a T-shirt and jeans - and immediately took to good-naturedly roasting the show.
It's easy to miss the blooper at first, since the background is pretty grey and he kind of blends in, but standing in the far left corner ... there he is.
The man, who hasn't been identified, is likely a rogue crew member who accidentally got into the shot - and decidedly not a new (casual) Stormtrooper uniform.
Fans reacted hilariously on social media after Friday night's episode and were quick find the humor in the innocent mistake.
'Mandalorian sneaks in random guy wearing jeans and watch in background of latest episode. Love it,' one fan tweeted.
Another asked: 'So does the guy in the jeans return in any future episodes?'
'Guy in jeans and gray T-shirt wearing a watch. A Storm Trooper just getting off his shift tries to avoid shoot out? It happens,' joked a third.
Several fans were quick to compare the 'guy in jeans' to Game of Thrones' epic 'coffeegate' when a disposable Starbucks cup was left in a shot - ironically also in episode four.
'It may not be as bad as leaving a coffee cup on a medieval high table, but this episode had a pretty obvious mistake in it,' one person penned, referencing the GoT faux pas.
In the 2019 GoT scene, a decidedly un-Westerosian cup was sitting at the table at Winterfell’s Great Hall as Daenerys Targaryen, Jon Snow and the united army of Wildlings, Unsullied and Dothraki warriors basked in their victory over the Night King.
The Mandalorian season three is currently gearing up - despite being in the midst of airing season two and not being officially greenlit.
Last week part of the set, which is being built in Manhattan Beach, California, was pictured nearly completed.
While season three has already been written but has yet to be given the greenlight, production is said to be around the corner, Deadline recently reported.
Pre-production on The Mandalorian season three has be going on 'for months' already and sources told Deadline that production will be kicking off possibly next week or 'in late November/early December.'
However, there are also reports claiming production won't begin until spring of 2021.
Deadline reported that the 'confusion' comes from the Lucasfilm side which operates under a thick veil of secrecy and that the nearer of the production start dates could actually be for a related series.
'One explanation could be rumors that another Mandalorian-related project, I hear possibly a Boba Fett miniseries, would film first, starting next week, with The Mandalorian Season 3 following after a monthlong break,' the outlet claimed.
The second season of The Mandalorian debuted late last month, with star Pedro Pascal returning as the titular character.
The show follows the adventures of The Mandalorian as he searches for a safe home for the adorable yet unnamed character fans have nicknamed 'Baby Yoda.'
Lena Waithe's wife Alana Mayo has filed for divorce, just one year after they tied the knot in San Francisco.
The Emmy winner announced in January that they had separated, two months after the wedding.
They released a joint statement at the time through USA Today: 'After careful thought and consideration, we have decided to part ways. We have nothing but support for one another and ask that you respect our privacy during this time.'
Waithe, 36, and Mayo, 35, had been together for over three years, and they got engaged in Tokyo on Thanksgiving Day, 2017.
She revealed last November on The Ellen DeGeneres Show that they secretly got married at a San Francisco courthouse.
The Twenties creator told guest host John Legend: 'We snuck and did it. We didn’t really make any announcements.'
She added: 'We got married right in front of Harvey Milk's bust. It was her idea, like all good things are. She was just driving and she saw the courthouse and she said, "We should get married there." And I said, "cool, I'm down."'
Waithe also explained the historical significance of Milk's memorial, honoring the first openly gay elected official in the state of California.
She said: 'It really was a humbling day to marry someone so amazing, but also to really appreciate all the work that so many people have put in for us to be able to do that, so it was good.'
The Ready Player One actress revealed back in 2016 that Mayo, who was recently named president of MGM's Orion Pictures, identified as straight before they began dating.
She told Refinery29: 'I love the fact that I can say to people that my girlfriend used to be a full-blooded heterosexual woman. She was never closeted; she was never pining. People always go: "Oh, so she was closeted all of those years?" And I go, "No! Not at all."
'She just took a liking to me and wanted to try dating me. I’m the first serious, adult relationship she’s ever had. I don’t think it’s about the fact that I’m a woman; it’s about the fact that she and I connect on a deep, human level. We just really get each other.'
Since they announced their split, there have been rumors that Waithe was unfaithful, buying expensive gifts for other women.
According to Bossip, Waithe and actress Cynthia Erivo, 33, were living together in Los Angeles back in January, when the split was announced.
She penned the latest script for Erivo's upcoming musical drama Talent Show, in which the British actress stars as a failed songwriter who returns home to Chicago, where she leads a group of at-risk youth in their annual talent show.
Waithe is also developing a series at Amazon Studios about open relationships, potentially titled Open.
She told The Hollywood Reporter in August: 'I've never been in an open marriage, but it's fascinating to me. We live in a world where, if I told you I cheated on my wife, you would be like, "Yeah, that's the way it goes."
'But if I told you that I'm in an open marriage, it would be as if I told you I'm joining the Church of Scientology.'
