Burnley's shock victory against Liverpool at Anfield saw the Reds fall short 18 games short of Chelsea's unbelievable record of 86 games without defeat at home in the Premier League.

Jurgen Klopp and his men came into the game against Sean Dyche's side having not suffered a top-flight loss on home soil since Christian Benteke's double brought about a 2-1 defeat by Crystal Palace in April 2017.

But that all changed on Thursday evening when Ashley Barnes' penalty following Alisson's foul on the Burnley forward secured a 1-0 win for the visitors and ended Liverpool's 68-game unbeaten run at home in the Premier League.

Klopp's side did achieve more than three full seasons of superiority against Premier League opposition at Anfield, and their hugely impressive home form helped them end their 30-year top-flight trophy drought last season.

The defeat by the Clarets was Liverpool's third reverse at Anfield this season across all competitions, following Atalanta's Champions League group stage win in November and Arsenal's Carabao Cup penalty shootout victory the month before.

But the crashing end to their 68-game unbeaten Premier League run has not only damaged their hopes of retaining their crown this term, but has ensured the record will remained dwarfed by Chelsea's barely-believable home run between March 2004 and October 2008.

The Blues stunning run extended beyond a four-year period under four different managers and saw back-to-back Premier League titles in 2004-05 and 2005-06.

Claudio Ranieri's final weeks as boss of the Stamford Bridge outfit saw the beginning of the run, before a vibrant Jose Mourinho arrived to lead what would become a ruthless Chelsea side in domestic matters.

The run continued once the Portuguese had departed and was replaced by Avram Grant in September 2007 and then Luiz Felipe Scolari in the summer of 2008, but the run ended three months after the Brazilian took charge courtesy of a deflected Xabi Alonso winner for Liverpool in October that year.

Chelsea's run meanwhile started after they had been beaten by Arsenal's Invincible's in a 2-1 reverse by Arsene Wenger's men in February 2004.

Liverpool however have ensured they remain far clear of their nearest rivals Manchester City, who went 37 games unbeaten at the Etihad Stadium between December 2010 and the same month two years later.

Manchester United make up the top five, having gone 35 and 36 top-flight games unbeaten between December 1994 and November 1996, and between December 1998 and the same month in 2000 respectively.

Netflix has teased 'exciting news' about Bridgerton after the show was tipped to run for eight seasons.

The series debuted on Christmas Day and has remained in the top spot on Netflix's most-watched list ever since, proving to be a mammoth success.

And now the streaming giant has teased 'exciting news' about the 'immensely popular' racy period drama.

According to Deadline, Netflix said in their fourth quarterly shareholder letter: 'This title has proven immensely popular and we’ll have some exciting news about Bridgerton later this week.'

The steamy period drama is set to rack up more than 63 million views by the end of January and has already earned the title of the fifth largest original series to launch on Netflix.

Bridgerton, which has earned a 90% critical approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, is Shonda Rhimes' first scripted show for Netflix since she struck a $150 million deal with the streaming giant.

The racy drama follows the self-titled family and how their lives are turned upside-down by the revelations of the illusive and anonymous Lady Thistledown.

Earlier this month, it was reported that Bridgerton could likely go from overnight sensation to an eight-season run, according to the creator of the Netflix hit.

Chris Van Dusen, the showrunner, has teased that it could have a very long lifespan.

Speaking to Collider, he said: 'This being a family of eight children and there being eight books, I would love to be able to focus and really tell stories and love stories for all the Bridgerton siblings. For each character, for sure. I would love that.'

He explained that season one was 'primarily about Daphne and her love story with Simon' but that there is much more to delve into.

The show is based on Julia Quinn's Bridgerton novels - the second one called The Viscount Who Loved Me.

Book two follows Daphne Bridgerton's elder brother Anthony, who is on the hunt for a wife.

As well as this, the story of Daphne and Simon Basset's marriage would continue, as well as the developments of Lady Portia Featherington following her husband's death. The mystery of Lady Whistledown's identity also continues.

Julia Quinn refers to her sequel books as 'second epilogues'.

They are The Duke And I, The Viscount Who Loved Me, An Offer From A Gentleman, Romancing Mister Bridgerton, To Sir Phillip, With Love, When He Was Wicked, It's In His Kiss, and On The Way To The Wedding.

There were also a further two books focused around the writings of Lady Whistledown from the Bridgerton series, released in 2003 and 2004.

Netflix have not confirmed further instalments but an announcement seems inevitable.
