Gina Carano opened up about facing backlash from the Star Wars community over her conservative and anti-mask tweets amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
The 38-year-old Mandalorian star, who received criticism after slamming Democrats for adhering to coronavirus safety protocols in November, spoke with YouTuber Drunk 3PO about her controversial social media presence late last month.
'People need to be OK with having conversations,' she told the host. 'With having difficult conversations, with having different opinions. What's wrong with having a different opinion?'
Gina did not address how the CDC has asked the American people to wear masks to help stop the spread of COVID-19. As of Wednesday, there are 381K people dead in the US from COVID-19.
She continued: 'Why does everybody have to straight go to demoralizing because maybe they just didn't think the way you did?'
The actress also noted that she is not deterred by critics and stays vocal to prevent them from controlling Twitter and other social media platforms.
'My whole perspective on this is, I've seen people get bullied off of Twitter on both sides,' the former MMA fighter explained. 'I don't like bullying, and If I don't stay present, which I don't even necessarily want to stay present that often, I want to make art, art is my passion, but if I don't stay present then other people win.'
She continued: 'Other people win in bullying people off of platforms and there needs to be a more balanced platform.'
Insisting she won't be silenced, the Texas-born performer pointed out that 'a lot of people are not bothered by' her presence on Twitter and she chooses to focus on her fans.
'I bring the fire out in people. I'm not sure why,' she said just weeks after sharing a snarky meme of two people putting face masks over their eyes like blindfolds.
'BREAKING NEWS: DEMOCRATIC GOVERNMENT LEADERS NOW RECOMMENDS [sic] WE ALL WEAR BLINDFOLDS ALONG WITH MASKS SO WE CAN'T SEE WHAT'S REALLY GOING ON,' the meme read.
At the time, many of Carano's 580,700 Twitter followers were outraged and tweeted that she should be removed from the hit Disney+ Star Wars spinoff series.
After her latest interview, people turned to the platform again to share their thoughts about not wanting 'transphobic racist a**holes in The Mandalorian.'
Many tweets point out how her tweets promoting hateful views and misinformation conflict with The Walt Disney Company's support of Black Lives Matter and Disney CEO Bob Chapek's recent statement condemning the violent act of rioters at the U.S. Capitol.
One Twitter user suggested Chapek review how Carano has 'shared dangerous conspiracy theories, treated the pandemic as a hoax, and been openly transphobic,' which they pointed out doesn't 'seem very in line with' with his brand.
Another tweeted that 'she clearly isn't afraid to be fired by Disney- and I think that speaks volumes not only about her, but also about Disney's complicity.'
Carano was previously called out in September for putting 'beep/bop/boop' in her profile, seemingly mocking trans people who put she/her/hers next to their name.
Another fan, @alderaansben, added, 'Its more than political differences. She is spewing hate and violent, extremist ideals, and aligningn herself with white supremacists,' adding #FireGinaCarano.
Twitter user @mastahskywolkah shared a tweet from Disney where they say they, 'stand against racism,' and tweets that Carano liked, which claimed America does not have a systemic racism problem.
Other fans not only want Disney to fire Carano, but give more prominent screen time to other female characters.
'I'm totally down for #FireGinaCarano because she's transphobic and overall just an awful person who doesn't deserve a platform. Replace her with Katee Sackhoff's Bo Katan,' said @truemanofsteel_
Another fan, @evanscohan, suggested, '#FireGinaCarano, make Koska Reeves the new female lead instead,' referring to the character played by Sasha Banks.
Combining living tissue with cold metal robots may sound like a plot from the James Cameron film 'Terminator,' but the idea is being developed for real-world machines at the Army Research Laboratory (ARL).
The US military group is working on a series of 'biohybrid robotics' that integrates living organisms into mechanical systems that 'produces never-seen-before agility and versatile.'
The team envisions growing muscle tissue in a lab that would be added to robotic joints in place of traditional actuators – components responsible for moving and controlling mechanisms.
The project aims to give robots the same agility and precision that muscles offer biological systems, allowing these futuristic machines to venture into spaces too risky for human soldiers.

Dr. Dean Culver, a research scientist at the laboratory, said: 'Though impressive in their own right, today's robots are deployed to serve a limited purpose then are retrieved some minutes later.'
'ARL wants robots to be versatile teammates capable of going anywhere Soldiers can and more, adapting to the needs of any given situation.'
The team is initially focusing on legged platforms similar to the Army's Legged Locomotion and Movement Adaptation research platform, known as LLAMA, and the U.S. Marine Corps' Legged Squad Support System, or LS3.
The idea is to give these war robots similar abilities to animals, such as balancing on uneven and unreliable terrain.
'One obstacle that faces ground-based robots today is an inability to instantly adjust or adapt to unstable terrain,' Culver said.
'Muscle actuation, though certainly not solely responsible for it, is a big contributor to animals' ability to navigate uneven and unreliable terrain.
'Similarly, flapping wings and flying organisms' ability to reconfigure their envelope gives them the ability to dart here and there even among branches.'
'In multi-domain operations, this kind of agility and versatility means otherwise inaccessible areas are now viable, and those options can be critical to the U.S. military's success.'
Culver and the researchers are set to share their work with the biohybrid engineering community regarding how to culture strong muscle tissue rather than extract it from a trained organism.
Ritu Raman, a mechanical engineer who works in biohybrid design, told Science Focus Magazine in October that to make the muscles work with different sized joints, it would be best to create a gel and muscle mixture that can be molded to the same needed for the muscular action of a specific robot.
'Then, because the cells are alive, when they go through this process, they're sensing and responding to their environment,' Raman said.
