Rylan Clark-Neal credits Katya Jones and Nicola Adams for 'normalising' Strictly same sex couples and predicts it will happen every year.

The It Takes Two host, 32, told MailOnline he 'doesn't care about sex or orientation' and viewers who feel otherwise can always 'turn over.'

In an exclusive interview, the TV presenter said he's 'sure it won't be the last time' Strictly welcomes a same sex partnership on the show – after Katya and Nicola were ruled out of this year's competition when the pro dancer caught coronavirus.

Rylan told MailOnline: 'When it comes down to same sex pairings obviously I get that it was a massive thing for Strictly and that it had never been done before.

'It was gutting – same sex or not – for a couple to leave the competition because of what's happened but I actually like the fact I forget that Nicola and Katya are a same sex couple. It's Katya and Nicola.

'It doesn't need to be made a big deal out of, in the nicest possible way. I am saying that as someone who is in a same sex couple. I like the fact it was a big story for five minutes and that's it.

'Next year, if there's two women, two men, a man and a goat – I don't care! I just love seeing the couples together and it's all about what happens on a Saturday night. I don't care about sex or orientation when it comes down to the couplings.'

Last year, Strictly professional dancers Johannes Radebe and Graziano di Prima performed together during a group routine, which sparked 189 complaints for being 'offensive.'

Rylan hopes viewers seeing Katya and Nicola dance together on this year's series will have broken down any boundaries felt by those with prior reservations – and Strictly same sex pairings will be welcomed on a regular occurrence.

He said: 'If there is a same sex couple next year then great – if not then okay, it doesn't have to be all the time. It's normalised now for Strictly.

'People watched that on a Saturday night and they saw Katya and Nicola, not two women. If it happens next year, fantastic, if it doesn't then okay – it's not a problem but I'm sure it won't be the last time.

'Strictly is probably one of the most inoffensive shows on TV, there is never anything that is outwardly offensive on that show – it's too big a brand for it to be like that.

'The fact that Strictly made that jump and put two women together, great. You will get people that say "I don't like it" but f***ing turn over!'

Rylan first came to people's attention in 2012 when he auditioned for The X Factor and hysterically cried after being told by Nicole Scherzinger he had made it to the next round.

Now he's known for his hosting gig on Big Brother spin-off show Bit on the Side and countless presenting jobs such as on This Morning, Supermarket Sweep and Ready, Steady, Cook.

It was reported in September that Rylan was on a shortlist of stars to front a new BBC mid-morning show to rival ITV's This Morning, modelled on their evening programme The One Show.

Although clearly a perfect fit for the role, Rylan said he's done with early mornings and prefers to watch those shows from the comfort of his own home.

He said: 'I worked on This Morning for 6/7 years and I had a lovely time there and I made friends, it was great to have that platform but I love my mornings too much now.

'I like sitting and watching TV in the morning rather than being on it. I would rather watch morning TV than be on it at the moment but maybe that's the panny D talking.'

It's almost been a decade since Rylan launched his showbiz career – but he still never takes for granted the opportunities he's had and even jokes he's only employed by so many shows as he's 'cheap.'

Rylan, who's married to husband Dan Neal, learned the hard way when Big Brother was axed by Channel 5 in 2018 that no job is guaranteed on TV forever.

He explained: 'I am very lucky to do the jobs I do. The only reason I do is because I'm cheap.

'I know little bits so I know I'm doing a new series of Ready, Steady, Cook in the New Year but things like Sweep or Strictly, you never know if you're going back.

'Big Brother really changed my outlook on things. Big Brother was my life; it was like a child to me. I would have never have left Big Brother, I know I wouldn't.

'I could be a Hollywood A-lister but I would have always flown back to do Bit on the Side. When that was taken away it was a wake up call that nothing is forever.'

Rylan has teamed up with Play-Doh to launch their Colour of the Year, which has been revealed as 'Nemesis Grey.'

The colour that has grown to be one of Rylan's favourites has been picked based on the insight that grown-ups don't like it when their children mix colours together.

After loving Play-Doh throughout his childhood, Rylan said the collaboration took him back to his younger years, and he's even tried persuading the brand that celebrates its 65-year anniversary this year, to launch a version of the product for adults.

He said: 'The second I saw Play-Doh the four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, 10-year-old in me, had a small mini heartache like I love Play-Doh.

'When they told me about the brief and that it's been 65-years of Play-Doh and that they were doing the colour of the year for the first time – and I knew it was going to be a bit of a mockumentary – I was completely sold. Obviously there were a few tubs of Play-Doh thrown in, which definitely sealed the deal.'

Rylan hosted a short film that features a panel of school children or 'colour mixing experts' that identified the new shade.

He added: 'I really love nemesis grey. It's actually a really nice colour. I am trying to persuade Play-Doh to bring out adult Play-Doh. They won't need my face on the Play-Doh, even though my face is made from Play-Doh!

'All day, I was saying why don't you bring out grey hues, black, white for adults and we can sit there and play with it as a stress relief. I just love the smell of Play-Doh as well; it takes me back to my childhood.'

Katie Price has posted a new snap with her 'mini me' daughter Princess after the teenager had her make-up done by a professional for the first time.

The former glamour model, 43, was sporting a heavy coat of expertly applied make-up, including a dramatic eye look with lashings of mascara and eyeliner.

Meanwhile Princess, 13, was also wearing a full face of make-up in more neutral tones for the sweet snap with her TV personality mum.

Both Katie and Princess' hair was styled in a sleek blown out style, while they also donned matching bubblegum pink sweatshirts.

Katie wrote alongside the photo: 'Me and my gorgeous mini me daughter @officialprincess_andre.'

The image received a mixed response from her followers, some of whom suggested she doesn't need make-up while others said it was a lovely bonding activity.

One follower wrote: Please remind her she is beautiful without make-up xx.'

Another said: 'Omg Princess is a child.'

A third wrote: 'I hate how she says mini-me, she's her own person a beautiful teenage girl.'

One defended the choice, and said: 'Beautiful bonding time over make-up! Me and my princess are going to do the same in second (now she's into make-up).

Another added: 'Shocking how people follow just to make s****t comments. Save your time bab and just don't follow if it offends you so much!'

While a different person wrote: 'Mum and daughter having a bit of fun!'

Princess also shared snaps of the make-up transformation on her own Instagram page, one by herself and another with her mother.

The daughter of Peter Andre wrote beside the snaps: 'JUST FOR FUN! First time I've had hair and make-up professionally done! I love it!'

Princess was recently treated to a puppy by her mum's boyfriend Carl, and recently shared a snap of the tree of them with the French bulldog puppy.

She captioned the snap: '@carljwoods got us a puppy she’s so cute @katieprice.'
